QBone Signaling Design Team
The QBone Signaling Design Team has concluded. The final
report of the design team contains the state of the SIBBS protocol
at the time the design team concluded.
The remainder of this page is historical.
Charter
The current group is an evolution of the Bandwidth Broker Advisory
Council that was begun in 1999 and which developed the
requirements for an inter-domain bandwidth broker protocol and
the initial draft of the SIBBS (Simple Inter-domain Bandwidth
Broker Signaling). The current group has been working since
last year (2000) to fill in the details of the SIBBS protocol
and to make sure it is implementable.
This group is chartered to describe the SIBBS protocol in sufficient
detail so that an interoperable implementation can be made. At
the completion of the work the group will recommend the protocol
for inclusion in the QBone Architecture and for deployment in
the QBone. The operability/interoperability event in September
will be a "proof of concept" for this protocol.
The group consists of a varying number of people who meet by phone
conference every few weeks to discuss technical issues with the
protocol. Among the people who have contributed are:
- Andy Adamson
- CITI University of Michigan
- Giovanni Bennini
- Siemens
- Phil Chimento
